Storage limits have just become a thing of the past. Microsoft OneDrive For Business will now offer unlimited storage to both their Office 365 Consumer and Business customers.
Moving forward, all Office 365 customers will get unlimited OneDrive storage at no additional cost.
With this move, the tech giant takes big step towards serving business clients with enterprise cloud needs, but what really sets this move apart from competitors like Dropbox and Box is the total compatibility with SharePoint.
SharePoint extends functionality across Office 365, uses OneDrive for data storage, and organizes your work documents. It’s the perfect tool for collaborating on projects, sharing files privately, and even has an enterprise social media network that’s accessible only by your company.
Microsoft’s Office team also announced a new feature: Office Delve, which is designed to bring projects and documents to common collaborators rather than having them hunt through their file system for them. Delve displays information that is most relevant for each person based on the work they’re doing combined with the people they’re engaging with. You don’t have to remember where stuff is stored or who shared it with you – but privacy is king, so you and your collaborators only get to view content they have been given access to.
First Release customers will get their unlimited storage upgrade starting in 2015 and OneDrive for Business costumers will be updated “in the coming days.” But if you’re hungry for more cloud storage, you can take advantage of the 1 TB of storage available in the meantime.
