Minimize Risk And Keep Yammer Conversations Compliant

Posted by Heidi Black on January 3, 2017

mailYammer allows you to connect across your company by discussing ideas, sharing updates, and crowdsource answers from coworkers around the globe. Yammer gives your team a faster, smarter way to connect and collaborate across your company.

However, with these features, comes compliance and data protection issues within your business, especially companies in regulated or litigious industries. If your organization cannot effectively archive, delete, and supervise Yammer communication, you may not be able to meet your compliance, legal or e-discovery obligations, which could lead to trouble. Today, Yammer provides end-users with two out-of-the-box capabilities. Soft Delete, in which deleted data will be retained on Yammer servers unless specifically removed via a 3rd-party application. The default and recommended option is Hard Delete, in which deleted data will be permanently removed from your network and is not visible within data exports. Although these delete capabilities meet most company requirements, they have limitations for some companies. By design, these delete capabilities can only be initiated by your end-users, requiring them to be responsible for maintaining a retention schedule and “knowing” when and what to delete.

Vorsite has developed an application that removes this burden from your end-users and enables administrators to manage the process. If a company has a compliance or regulatory need to delete content from Yammer by a specific date or date range, and on specific schedule (i.e. daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) this should be a helpful solution for you. Contact Vorsite to get details.
